E-youC gelar Tudang Sipulung

English Youth Community (E-youC) Makassar held a Tudang Sipulung on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at Jl. Syekh Yusuf, Kantangka, Somba Opu.

The Tudang Sipulung, with the theme Halfway to go for our extraordinary year, was one of the E-youC work programs and it invited all agents, supervisors, and advisors from E-YouC.

The agenda commenced with an opening ceremony by the president of English Youth Community, Andi Dwi Putra Ramadan, followed by the President's report, Secretary's work report, Treasurer's work report, Learning and Teaching work report, Human and Relations work report, Publication and Documentation work report, and Funding report.

Besides being a work program, Tudang Sipulung aimed to this event was held to evaluate the performance of each ministry and agent of English Youth Community for half a year of affiliation. Besides that, this event is also a place to discuss new ideas related to future community activities. Tudang Sipulung is also a long-awaited event to stay in touch.

The more you Practice, the more you Improve, so, let's do more!

The representatives of English Youth Community (E-youC) in a Debate Competition at the ETIS Vol. II held by Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM)

May 31, 2023 - Four agents of the English Youth Community Makassar participated in a debate competition at the ETIS Vol. II which was held at Universitas Negeri Makassar. Our debaters were divided into two teams; the E-YouC A team and the E-YouC B team.

E-youC A Team: Andi Dwi Putra Ramadan and Izzatul Jannah
E-youC B Team: Ismail Mubarak and Wafiyah Asyifah Fa'adhilah

The debate competition lasted for two days. On the second day, the E-youC A Team made it into the semifinals, but unfortunately they lost at that stage.

Our debaters have managed to show enthusiasm and done their best in this competition. This achievement is definitely inseparable from the support of E-youC agents, supervisors, and advisors, especially Mr. Subhan Rahmat as the Coach who has guided the representatives of English Youth Community in this competition. This award is a matter of pride for the English Youth Community Makassar.

"This kind of debate competition was very different from competitions I have participated in before, which used a parliamentary accent system, and this competition used a British parliamentary system. By joining this competition, I got a lot of new things, that I never got before especially knowing how to debate in English. It was so interesting, I was excited, and satisfied to join this competition. I hope that I could join another competition, especially in an English debate, not for being as an experience, but as a winner." (Ismail Mubarak)

"An English debate competition made a very big impact on confidence in expressing arguments. By joining it, I knew how debate competitions are like, I learned about how to present arguments properly. Semarak Festival Ramadan di Kampung Binaan E-YouC

Ramadan is the month that every muslim has been waiting for. The month in which the reward of every good act of worship are multiplied, so that its arrival is always welcomed by Muslims around the world by carrying out various activities.

As a form of joy in welcoming the arrival Ramadan this year, the English Youth Community of Makassar held a Lively Ramadan Festival with the children of Dusun Palemba, Timbuseng Village, Kec. Pattalassang Kab. Gowa.

This event is fully supported by the resident of Dusun Palemba. The Ramadan Festival was carried out after the midday prayer, on Saturday, April 15 2023 and filled with educational competitions; Adzan competition, Tahfidz Competition, Coloring Competition, and 1st ranking Competition. Followed by breaking the fast together at the headman of Palemba village, Tarawih prayer, giving an Islamic speech by the President of E-YouC, and announcing the winners of the competition as well as giving prizes to the headman of Palemba village.

English Youth Community of Makassar hope that this Festival can grow and motivate children in learning the Quran and instill religious values and enthusiasm for learning in theirselves.

E-YouC National Seminar and Workshop: "Creating Teaching Method to Establish Children's Learning Desire"

English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar will hold a National Seminar and Workshop on Saturday, March 11, 2023, starting from 09.00 s.d. 13.00 WITA.

By raising the theme on “Creating Teaching Method to Establish Children's Learning Desire", this event is expected to bring a change from the monotonous learning methods to a fun learning atmosphere that can stimulate students' desire to learn. Fun does not mean playing all the time. This for the long-term effect they will have on the student culture and classroom atmosphere. Having fun while learning also helps students retain information better because the process is enjoyable and memorable.

This National Seminar and Workshop will be attended by the speakers that expert on Teaching Method, they are:

Muhammad Syahruddin Nawir, S.Pd., M.Hum. (Experienced in fun learning and class management).
Ummu Rofikah S.Pd., M.Hum. (Lecturer of Universitas Muhammadiyah Bima).
apt. Istianah Purnamasari, S.Farm., M.Si (Story teller and teacher)

There would be a two session on the seminar; Online and Offline. The offline session will be held at the East Lecturer Theater (Lt. Timur), Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FTK) UIN Alauddin Makassar.

Agents of English Youth Community won the competition held by Ma'had al-Jamiah UIN Alauddin Makassar

Five agents of English Youth Community won the competition held by Ma'had Al-jamiah, UIN Alauddin Makassar. The competition is one of the programs by Foreign Language Intensification Center (PIBA) UIN Alauddin Makassar chaired by Dr. H. Abd. Muis Said, M.Ed which aims to improve students' skills in foreign languages, especially English and Arabic. There were several branches of the competition that held on December 8th, 2022; Essay Writing, Quiz, Speech, and news reading.

Below are the names of the agents who won the competitions:

The competition was announced on January 12th, 2023 as well as the awarding of prizes by director of Ma'had Al-Jamiah, Prof. Dr. H. Syahruddin Usman, and certificate submission signed by director of Ma'had Al-Jami'ah and the head of the Foreign Language Intensification Center (PIBA) UIN Alauddin Makassar, Dr. H. Abd. Muis Said, M.Ed.

"It was my first time participating in a competition held at the university. Since I received information about it in September 2022, I prepared myself well three months before it started. Initially I had registered for three branches of the contest; English Speech, Essay Writing, and English quiz. However, I withdrew from the speech contest because I felt that I was not prepared enough. Thanks God, I took the first place on the English Quiz and Essay Writing. Hopefully this would be the main gate of the next competitions and achievements", Izzatul Jannah, 1st winner of Essay Writing and English Quiz.

English Youth Community; The 8th Anniversary

After the implementation of the 8th WeNa on December 2-4, English Youth Community also held a celebration of the 8th anniversary. The agenda with the theme we 8 we bright, as starlight we always fight was held in the East LT of Faculty Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Alauddin Makassar on December 18.

The welcoming speech by Anggun Wicaksono S.pd.,M.Pd. as the founder of English Youth Community continued with the cutting of nasi tumpeng by the other founder, Muhammad Fajar Sidiq, S.Pd.

Several interesting performances were presented at the 8th anniversary of English Youth Community, such as group vocals, Anggaru, Paduppa Dance, acoustics, and poetry.

"It's not only an anniversary but also a moment, a history of a community that in shaa allah can be benefit for all people, can study English also sharing together in our community. I always say this to all of the agents that as far as you go, you come back to home , you can stay like a home and meet your family there." Said Anggun Wicaksono S.Pd., M.Pd
