Free Meeting of English Youth Community (E-youC) Makassar 2025–2026

English That Hits Different: Daily Expressions You Don’t Learn in Class

English Youth Community (E-youC) Makassar successfully held another Free Meeting for the 2025–2026 period on Friday, January 30, 2026, through Google Meet. Open to the public, the session welcomed participants from different backgrounds who were eager to improve their English in a relaxed and interactive environment.

The meeting focused on the theme “English That Hits Different: Daily Expressions You Don’t Learn in Class.” The session was led by Putri Ikhtiar Sinaga, a member of the Ministry of Learning and Teaching 2025–2026. Rather than focusing on textbook English, the discussion introduced participants to everyday expressions commonly used by native speakers in casual conversations.

To make the meeting more engaging, the session began with a light ice-breaking activity that encouraged participants to interact and feel comfortable speaking in English. The warm atmosphere helped everyone become more confident before moving into the main discussion.

Throughout the session, participants explored various English expressions that are rarely covered in classrooms but are frequently used in daily communication. Putri explained the meaning of each expression, when to use it, and how it fits naturally into conversations. She also shared practical examples to help participants understand the expressions more easily.

The meeting was highly interactive, with participants actively asking questions, sharing their own experiences, and practicing the new expressions together. Several short games and speaking activities were also included to keep the session lively and prevent participants from feeling bored. These activities encouraged everyone to use the expressions in real situations while enjoying the learning process.

One participant shared that the session gave them a new perspective on learning English. They realized that communicating naturally is not only about mastering grammar but also about understanding the expressions people use in everyday life. The friendly atmosphere made them feel comfortable enough to participate without worrying about making mistakes.

This Free Meeting once again reflected English Youth Community's commitment to creating a supportive learning space where English can be practiced in a fun, meaningful, and practical way. Through activities like this, the community hopes to encourage more young people to build their confidence and use English beyond the classroom. English Youth Community looks forward to welcoming participants to future meetings with more exciting topics and interactive learning experiences.
