New Board of English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar 2023-2024: Appointment, Upgrading, Work Meeting

After the Grand meeting (Mubes) which was held few weeks ago, the English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar conducted an event for Appointment, Upgrading, and a Working Meeting, of the new E-YouC formators for the 2023-2024 term.

The agenda with the theme "Fostering the Spirit with Solidarity, Establishing the Character with Familiarity" took place on October 27-28, 2023, in Mannyampa, Pallangga, Gowa, with Muh. Fatir, as the committee chairman.

The appointment of the new English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar formators for the term 2023-2024 was held at 14.30 WITA directly by Mr. Subhan Rahmat as one of the E-YouC advisors.

The Upgrading agenda at 16.00 to 21.30 WITA, which is the core of this agenda, was provided with the Leadership material given by Mr. Andi Dwi Putra Ramadhan as E-YouC's supervisor, followed by the E-YouC material given by Mr. Muh. Sahid Agil as E-YouC as the advisor, and closed with the Problem-Solving material given by Mr. Subhan Rahmat, as E-YouC's advisor.

The work meeting (Rapat Kerja) at 21.30 became the end of this agenda. The new formators and their divisions presented their work program that had been previously discussed, guided by the head of steering, Mr. Suharyadi Rahmat, and two supervisors as companions, Izzatul Jannah and Musyahidah. There were discussion and presentation sessions regarding the new board's work program, as well as an evaluation of the previous board's work program.

"I hope that the new formators can learn from these materials and apply them in the management of our work programs, and both agents and formators could participate together in making EyouC develop well for the next year ahead. I would like to say thank you to the entire committee who helped in carrying out this agenda smoothly," said Muh. Fatir as the chief of committee.

A Grand Meeting (Musyawarah Besar) of English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar

A Grand Meeting (Mubes) is an event conducted within an organization to select a chairman along with their team for the organization. Mubes takes place at the end of the previous leadership term, aiming to plan activities for the future progress of the organization. The success of an organization depends on the quality and quantity of its members. However, that alone is not sufficient; it requires loyalty and consistency in maintaining and developing the organization. Therefore, active members are needed to advance the English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar.

On Friday, October 2023, the Grand Meeting (Mubes) of the English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar was held in Mannyampa, Pallangga. The purpose of this event is to establish a committee capable of improving E-YouC.

The event, themed "Name It Extraordinary for the Journey, Call It Maturity for the History," was attended by supervisors, advisors, formators, and agents from E-YouC itself. Andi Dwi Putra Ramadan, serving as the E-YouC president for the 2022-2023 term, delivered the opening address.

The event began at 8:00 PM local time with the recitation of the holy Quran, followed by speeches from the committee chairman, the E-YouC president for the 2022-2023 term, and the E-YouC advisor. The opening ceremony concluded with a prayer.

The Mubes ended at 3:00 AM local time, resulting in the appointment of Ainur Gunna as the president of the English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar for the 2023-2024 term, replacing Andi Dwi Putra Ramadan, who held the same position during the 2022-2023 term.

The English Camp agenda in Collaboration with SDIT Nurul Fikri Makassar

The English Camp, a collaborative effort between SDIT Nurul Fikri Makassar and the English Youth Community, kicked off with great enthusiasm on 20th of October, 2023. The event's aim was to enhance English language skills for the fourth and fifth-grade students, enabling them to express themselves confidently in various situations, including the classroom and the cafeteria.

The event was inaugurated at 07.30 AM with a Dhuha session, followed by an engaging opening ceremony led by the headmaster of SDIT Nurul Fikri Makassar, Istha Herlitha, at 08.00 AM. The students were then immersed in a valuable English learning experience, which began with a session on irregular verbs conducted by e-YouC mentors from 09.00 AM to 10.00 AM.

After a short break, the students reassembled for a fun and educational series of games from 10.30 AM to 11.30 AM, promoting both learning and teamwork. In the afternoon, they delved into grammar and daily expressions during sessions facilitated by e-YouC mentors.

The highlight of the day was the speech agenda, where students showcased their newfound language skills with confidence. The evening brought the "Describing Your Favorite Things Competition" from 19.30 to 21.30, closely monitored by the committee, mentors, and a native speaker. 

The second day of the English Camp was filled with adventure, starting at 07.20 AM. The students engaged in games and evaluated the material they had learned, all on the school premises, with the picturesque surroundings adding to the excitement.

In closing, the outgoing president, Aka Putra, expressed his hopes for the future, stating, "I hope the new leadership will continue to drive English Youth Community forward, achieving new milestones and fostering solidarity among its members. As we always say, the more you practice, the more you improve, so let's continue striving for excellence."

The camp's theme, "Embrace Yourself with English," was brilliantly reflected in the activities and the enthusiastic participation of the students. Mr. Ruslan Rara S.Pd, a dedicated teacher from SDIT Nurul Fikri Makassar and an agent of the English Youth Community, played a vital role in making this collaboration a success.

The English Camp of 2023 was a memorable and educational event, fostering a love for the English language and equipping students with valuable language skills.

The Outing Class event in collaboration with SDIT Nurul Fikri Makassar

English Youth Community Makassar (E-YouC) collaborates with SDIT Nurul Fikri Makassar in the Outing Class event with the theme "English is a piece of cake." The event took place on August 30 at Balla Lompoa Gowa Museum.

The flow of activities began with the "Opening Ceremony," led by the chairperson of the SDIT Nurul Fikri Makassar organizing committee. Following that was Learning Session Part 1, where students actively engaged in the educational sessions facilitated by mentors from the English Youth Community.

After the insightful sessions, participants enjoyed a delightful Snack, fostering camaraderie among the students. The learning continued with Learning Session Part 2, providing a comprehensive exploration of English language skills.

The day concluded with a satisfying Lunch, marking the success of a collaborative and enriching Outing Class that witnessed the enthusiastic participation of students from SDIT Nurul Fikri Makassar, guided by dedicated mentors from the English Youth Community.

May this partnership further enrich the educational experience for the youth, fostering a strong foundation in English and a spirit of collaboration.

E-YouC Makassar Teams Up with UKM International Black Panther Karate Indonesia of UINAM for a Meaningful Social Service

English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar successfully collaborated in a Social Service activity organized by the UKM International Black Panther Karate Indonesia of UIN Alauddin (UIN) Makassar in Dusun Palemba Desa Desa Timbuseng, Kec. Pattalasang, Kab. Gowa on July 21-23, 2023.

The event themed "Membangun Jiwa Peka, Produktif, Koperatif, Adaptif Bersama BPK Untuk Terciptanya Kepedulian Sebagai Bentuk Pengabdian Masyarakat" was attended by children from Dusun Palemba, along with participants representing the UKM International Black Panther UINAM and English Youth Community.

Throughout three activity sessions, participants displayed their high spirits and dedication. On the first day, Friday night, a series of competitions involving the children from the Dusun Palemba were held. On the second day, Saturday, free health check-ups, teaching and learning activities, tree planting, as well as entertaining competitions and games were conducted. On the final day, Sunday, the members of UKM Black Panther impressed everyone with an outstanding martial arts performance.

The collaboration between English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar and the UKM International Black Panther Karate Indonesia of UIN Alauddin (UIN) Makassar not only brought benefits to the local community but also strengthened the bonds between organizations and nurtured a spirit of social service. Hopefully, such collaborations can continue for the betterment of society in the future.

Ismail Mubarak, an agent of E-YouC, won the National Debate Championship at the Walikota Cup, Makassar Youth.

The UIN Alauddin Makassar team, which is a team from one of the E-YouC's agent, Ismail Mubarak, successfully won the championship at the Walikota Cup, Makassar Youth, the National Debate Championship. The competition was organized by the Youth and Sports Department of Makassar City, the Mayor of Makassar City, and the Youth Ambassador of Makassar City.

The event took place from July 29 to July 30, 2023, and was participated by various universities such as Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Mulawarman, Universitas Sriwijaya, UNM, UMI, UNHAS, UIN Alauddin, and several other colleges.

The colleges that secured the top three positions in the National Debate Championship were Universitas Brawijaya as the Champion, UNM as the Runner-up, and UIN Alauddin Makassar as the Third Place.

The UIN Alauddin Makassar team consisted of three speakers, namely Ismail Mubarak from English Education Department and also as an agent of English Youth Community (E-YouC), Ilham from Public Health Department, and Berlian, also from Public Health Department.

Ilham from the UIN Alauddin team mentioned that the competition was tough and required tremendous effort to compete with other universities.

On behalf of the team, Ilham expressed gratitude to his exceptional team for their dedication. He emphasized using this event as a stepping stone to continuously improve and excel.

Congratulations to our agent, Ismail Mubarak, for his outstanding achievement in the national debate competition. We hope this accomplishment will be the beginning of a successful debating career and bring positive impact to society and the nation.

Agents of English Youth Community (E-youC) became mentors in Language Village event held by SDIT PLUS QURTHUBA

On June 16-17, 2023, six agents of English Youth Community (E-youC) attended the Language Village event organized by SDIT PLUS QURTHUBA. In this agenda, English Youth Community appointed six members as mentors. Here are their names:

The event focused on English Learning and Arabic Learning. The mentors assisted students from SDIT PLUS QURTHUBA in deepening their knowledge of the English and Arabic languages. Activities included teaching, various language games, and speaking exercises.

In a spirited and cheerful atmosphere, participants felt supported in improving their language skills. Moreover, the event created a supportive and enjoyable environment for the participants to understand these languages. The event was considered successful and provided significant benefits to the participants. The participation and collaboration among the mentors had a positive impact on the development of English and Arabic skills for the participants.

We hope this Language Village event brings significant benefits to the students of SDIT PLUS QURTHUBA and strengthens their enthusiasm for learning English and Arabic.
