Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi opened his voice regarding the support of two Papuan New Guinea governors for the Papua referendum.

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia - Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi opened his voice regarding the support of two Papuan New Guinea governors for the Papua referendum. On the sidelines of a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) commission, Retno stressed that the attitude of the Papua New Guinea government has not changed in the past. "The position of the Papua New Guinea government has not changed, in the sense that they continue to support the sovereignty of the territory of the Republic of Indonesia. That was conveyed by the Prime Minister and his Minister many times," Retno told reporters on Wednesday (9/11).

The statement was made by Retno following a demonstration by thousands of Papuan New Guinea residents in the Capital City of Port Moresby as a form of solidarity with West Papua's independence yesterday. The demonstration was led by Governor of Port Moresby Powes Parkop.  Parkop said that residents of Papua New Guinea consider West Papuans the same as their families.  He said the residents of Papua New Guinea helped "feel the suffering of the citizens of West Papua". "When a crime has been committed against our tribe and our clan members, it also hurts us," Parkop said.

The statement was made by Retno following a demonstration by thousands of Papuan New Guinea residents in the Capital City of Port Moresby as a form of solidarity with West Papua's independence yesterday.

Quoted by Radio New Zealand, Parkop said because of the failure that Papuans rebelled to express what was in their minds and hearts. According to him, the demonstration of the citizens of Papua New Guinea to support the people of West Papua has just begun. "We will expand this campaign and mobilize the whole country," he said.
