Agents of English Youth Community won the competition held by Ma'had al-Jamiah UIN Alauddin Makassar

 

Five agents of English Youth Community won the competition held by Ma'had Al-jamiah, UIN Alauddin Makassar. The competition is one of the programs by Foreign Language Intensification Center (PIBA) UIN Alauddin Makassar chaired by Dr. H. Abd. Muis Said, M.Ed which aims to improve students' skills in foreign languages, especially English and Arabic. There were several branches of the competition that held on December 8th, 2022; Essay Writing, Quiz, Speech, and news reading.

Below are the names of the agents who won the competitions:

• 1st winner of English Quiz (Team D)

• Winner of English News Reading

- 1st winner, Wafiyah Asyifah Fa'adhilah

- 3rd winner, Ismail Mubarak

• 1st winner of Essay Writing

The competition was announced on January 12th, 2023 as well as the awarding of prizes by director of Ma'had Al-Jamiah, Prof. Dr. H. Syahruddin Usman, and certificate submission signed by director of Ma'had Al-Jami'ah and the head of the Foreign Language Intensification Center (PIBA) UIN Alauddin Makassar, Dr. H. Abd. Muis Said, M.Ed.

"It was my first time participating in a competition held at the university. Since I received information about it in September 2022, I prepared myself well three months before it started. Initially I had registered for three branches of the contest; English Speech, Essay Writing, and English quiz. However, I withdrew from the speech contest because I felt that I was not prepared enough. Thanks God, I took the first place on the English Quiz and Essay Writing. Hopefully this would be the main gate of the next competitions and achievements", Izzatul Jannah, 1st winner of Essay Writing and English Quiz.

English Youth Community; The 8th Anniversary

After the implementation of the 8th WeNa on December 2-4, English Youth Community also held a celebration of the 8th anniversary. The agenda with the theme we 8 we bright, as starlight we always fight was held in the East LT of Faculty Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Alauddin Makassar on December 18.

The welcoming speech by Anggun Wicaksono S.pd.,M.Pd. as the founder of English Youth Community continued with the cutting of nasi tumpeng by the other founder, Muhammad Fajar Sidiq, S.Pd.

Several interesting performances were presented at the 8th anniversary of English Youth Community, such as group vocals, Anggaru, Paduppa Dance, acoustics, and poetry.

"It's not only an anniversary but also a moment, a history of a community that in shaa allah can be benefit for all people, can study English also sharing together in our community. I always say this to all of the agents that as far as you go, you come back to home , you can stay like a home and meet your family there." Said Anggun Wicaksono S.Pd., M.Pd

PROFILE ENGLISH YOUTH COMMUNITY

A. Sejarah Berdirinya English Youth Community (E-YouC)

Berangkat dari sebuah kegelisahan beberapa mahasiswa PBI khususnya terkait belajar bahasa inggris di komunitas, dikarenakan beberapa komunitas di kampus membatasi anggotanya belajar, sehingga beberapa mempunyai gagasan untuk membentuk komunitas baru yang lebih flexibel dan universal.

Awalnya ada dua orang yang mempunyai gagasan untuk membentuk komunitas ini, yang kemudian membentuk tim sebanyak 6 orang untuk membantu pergerakan dua orang ini. Dua orang pelopor ini ialah Muhammad fajar sidiq dan Anggun Wicaksono. Dan dibantu oleh 4 orng yang manjadi tim yaitu rustam, yusuf, suciana, dan hikmawati.

Setelah terbentuknya tim 6 dan disusunlah beberapa landasan dan usulan terkait dengan komunitas, maka dikumpulkan-lah para mahasiswa yg mempunyai keresahan yg sama. Sehingga dilakukan-lah yang namanya mubes pada tanggl 12-12-2015 di antang, di rumah seorang mahasiswa pula yang mendudukung kegiatan ini yang bernama nuraini hamnar. Pada mubes disini disahkan bebberpa keputusan  yang tak lain menetapkan president pertama dan beberapa jajarannya, dan disahkannya Founder sekaligus advisor of EYouC.

B. Tujuan English Youth Community (E-YouC)

Tujuan English Youth Community (E-YouC) Makassar adalah mencetak generasi muda pecinta bahasa Inggris guna tercapainya insan yang berpendidikan tinggi, bertanggungjawab dan bisa menjadi pemimpin di masa depan demi terwujudnya peradaban.

Adapun makna dari logo English Youth Community adalah sebagai berikut;

1. Persegi empat itu melambangkan empat pilar dalam E-YouC ( Musyawarah, Keluarga, Solidaritas, Bermanfaat)

2. Warna hitam, putih, biru. Hitam artinya ilmu yang komprehensif, biru artinya kehidupan dan ketenangan, putih artinya suci.

3. Gambar melengkung setengah lingkaran artinya padi yang semakin berisi semakin menunduk, menandakan bahwa Agent yang memiliki ilmu akan tetap istiqomah dan rendah hati.

4. Gambar ceklish pada huruf Y artinya kita selalu mengedepankan kebaikan dan selalu menerima tantangan.

F. Motto

Motto English Youth Community adalah "The More You Practice The More You Improve, So Let's Do More!", Makna dari Motto tersebut ialah semakin banyak berlatih, maka semakin banyak pula peningkatan, jadi terus lakukan lagi dan berusaha selalu.

English Youth Community Held The 8th Welcoming New Agents (WeNa)

Welcoming New Agents or WeNa is one of the English Youth Community's programs to welcome new agents. The 8th WeNa which was held in Rumah Adat Ujung Pandang, Somba Opu, 2-4 December 2022 was the largest WeNa of E-youc which is the number of new agents who took part in this agenda were 40.

The first day was the opening session by the first president of English Youth Community, he is Armadi Jaya S.Pd., M.Pd. as an advisor, followed by an acquaintanceship to the 2022-2023 organizational committee, supervisors, and advisors of English Youth Community. Next, grouping and yelling. The new agents were divided into several groups and were asked to make some yells. This is intended to make them explore, learn from each other, and build cohesiveness between groups.

There were several English materials provided in the 8th WeNa; Reading skill, listening skill, Speaking skill, Writing skill, and Part of Speech. These basic materials aimed to horizon the knowledge, develop the skills, and build the new agents' enthusiasm in learning English. 

Leadership, organizational, and E-YouC materials were also provided due to the importance of mastering how to become a good leader and manage the organization well before joining this community.

Having Meals together, gymnastics, learning, and sharing sessions between the new and previous agents of The English Youth Community have added value so that the new agents could build a good relationship with the organizational committee, supervisors, and advisors of E-YouC.

A night performance by all of the agents became a meaningful moment in enlivening the 8th WeNa, followed by sharing session by the supervisors. The next day was a closing session as well as the inauguration of the new agents who had officially joined with English Youth Community.

"I hope the new agents could have many meaningful experiences and have fun in learning English by joining our community." Said Andi Reski Utami as the chairman of the committee.
